Concordia’s Thursday Report

April 18, 1996

Passerby during the busy evening hours on St. Laurent Blvd last month had a provocative art installation to look at. “Projections in Public: Montreal” was a work-in-slides by 23 local artists, many of them Concordians.  The works included poetry and texts as well as visuals.  “Projections in public” started in 1987 in Los Angeles and has been traveling to cities around the continent, where local artists take it up and make it their own.  The public project marked the end of a visit to Concordia by Karen Atkinson, an artist and independent curator in Santa Monica, CA. As artist- in-residence here. Graduate student Ian McKinnon was the project coordinator.
